Crafts (James M.) House is built.

(ca.) Architect: Peabody & Stearns. Built for the MIT president and his wife, it is located at 59 Marlborough Street. Subsequent occupants include future governor Roger Wolcott and Russell Codman. The home is subsequently purchased by his double brother-in-law Charles R. Codman, who is appointed Boston Fire Commissioner by Mayor James Michael Curley in the 1940s.
